@HH:

Wonderful idea !  For "Music has charms to soothe a savage breast,"  So thought Congreve. And I agree.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Congreve.
A great many of us make choice of music an important part of the personas we try to project to the world. And we cherish the memories of the first time we heaard Bill Hailey or Blueberry Hill.
In backcountry Westphalia, a homeowner identifies his home with a sign: "Blueberry Hill".
I wrote that my all-time favourite is an LP I bought in 1958: "Cool & Quiet" It's my constant friend and companion that I've played hundreds of times. And I can reach out and touch it as I sit here typing.
NOBODY did cool like Miles Davis and his pals in 1957  :

And let's not forget the power music has in the practice of our religion. Little so ties us to our clan like "Old Rugged Cross".

So, thank you, HH, for another great idea. You're a good 'un .     Let's hear from the Hank Snow lot.

Not so sure about Hank Snow, but Hank Williams was one of the best.

His son Hank Williams Jr. rose to fame in the same industry and is likely best known for his Monday Night Football theme song.

Not many folks however, know about Hank Williams III. He would be the son of Hank Jr. and grandson to Hank Sr. He has his grandad’s whine, but also a rebellious side. His rendition of Cecil brown is reminiscent of his granpappy, but his fun side steps out in his song, Mississippi Mud, both from his latest album, ‘Lovesick, Broke And Driftin’, both songs below.

Couple of favourites that I discovered in the late 60s and were influential in shaping my musical taste. I listen to these quite often , particularly the Miles. I was lucky to have seem both Miles and BB, more than once, in Edmonton

I think this is the best rendition of Stairway to Heaven that I've ever heard.  Judging by the video, LZ thinks so to!

We lost a giant this week with the death of BB King. While 'The Thrill Is Gone' has many versions, this is the one I like the best. RIP Mr. King and thanks for the music.
