I saw the article in the Gazette about the meeting for intended candidates for council.  It seems that Mr. Belke will be running it again and there are changes.  He states that there are changes on how to file, collect contributions etc.   Could this have something to do with the "open" and "honest" disclosure of expenses?  I seem to remember people getting attacked the last election for abiding by the law, but not giving some people all the information they want because they weren't required to under the law.  Let me make this very clear, the province, and not the city, determines which laws are to be followed.  They are in the elections act.  Remember the attack on third party advertising? As far as I know, it is still legal in Alberta as there have been no changes.  Also, you are not responsible for someones expenses if they choose to support you.  But, if the city has changed that, then lets make sure that if election signs that are put on lawns are accounted for in expenses because this is the primary form of third party advertising.  And there is a cost to that which includes rent on the land the sign is on.  Just sayin!

Looked like a lot of people attending that event.  How many candidates will we have!  Curious about the Mayor spot.
My council would be

McKay
Hughes
Cassidy
Boulin

Those 4 are pretty conservative fiscally.

Interestingly Mayor Crouse, again, brings up the 3rd party support in the last election in the article about nasty politics that K. VanHoof references on the front page of this site. Seems funny doesn't it when he comments on dirty politics and he conveniently omits his shinning examples of bad behaviour. My fear with his MGA legal issues is that an election is around the corner and the fact that he has announced that he wont be seeking re-election that the judge will admonish him and let him serve out his elected term.

On another thought. I wonder how much the severance package cost us tax payers when a certain ex-councillor was let go from his City management position? Just wondering ya know....

HH:  I recall that evening, to be exact at 7:40 PM  when CROUSE uttered those two words towards Shelly Biermanski. this in the presence of approx 15 people. And to think he had the audacity to deny the instance. Just another lie by this individual adding to others. To think that he as a politician  also was caught Double & Triple Billing on his expense accounts as well as holding off wages that were given him for serving on that committee as chairman until he was caught.  if that was you or I as a private citizen taking funds that did not belong to me it would be called theft.  I'm hoping that come 26 July that the judge does in fact remove him from the Mayors chair. The sooner we see the last of him the better off the citizens of this city will be.

HH:  Further to my above statement. Another incident that to me should not have happened - and that being shortly after the Community Hall affair was during the 'all candidates' public meeting that was put on by the Chamber of Commerce.

There was enough talk re the incident that one would have expected during the town hall event that their would be some distance in place between both as to where Shelly and Crouse sat - no way, they had them sitting next to each other.+++

Yes, I had to laugh about Crouse bringing up 3rd party support. Is not union support, which he received, 3rd party support? Guess the Think Tank made a real impression on Crouse. He cannot let it go. Like a bulldog with a bone.

As far as the Gazette goes, they said that Crouse was mentioned in the Think Tank. NOT once was his name mentioned. Gazette should get their facts straight!!!

My guess is that it took 2558 clicks to unblock it.
