If anyone wishes to continue the live chat feature here on the Forum, this works the same way. Simply register and continue to post chat items here.

Morning to all, sorry to move things over here much more quickly than planned but a recurring problem has forced me to use this area to increase security and avoid harassment in future. I think no more explanation is necessary. You will have to enter a series of letters to register using "captcha" and you will have to wait for approval before your membership becomes official. That gives me the kind of security I need to avoid this recurring problem. Once you register and are approved, this thread will operate in the same way as the Live Chat used to work. If you previously registered, you are good to go as of now.

Hey Don,

I can post on this forum using my desktop...but I can't post using my iPad?  It keeps telling me that cookies are not enabled...but I have changed the settings on my iPad to allow the cookies from sites I have visited, to no avail. I checked with Apple and consumer forums and this seems to be a problem with the iPads and for some reason there does not seem to be a work around.  This is unfortunate, as most of the time I work off my iPad...and if I can't post responses, I am less likely to go into the forum to read.  Does anyone else know of a possible solution?  Resetting all my settings is not an option either.

I had the same issue on my iPad 2 this morning Kellex. I went to settings and allowed all cookies, but that didn't work. Then I held down both the power button and the home button until the white Apple symbol appeared and when it completely rebooted, I was able to access the forum. Hope it will work for you as well. It seems to need the hard boot to get rid of the old  cookies settings altogether.

Something a little different. Language. Those who study language tell us the the combined volume of the English language doubles every year and half. Oxford has ceased publishing dictionaries, they can't keep up with the changes. These days I continually hear references to 'iconic.' Not everyone or everything no matter how famous is iconic. Can we find another expression? Please!

@Andy, well the newest (most used) word for this past year was deemed to be "selfie" LOL and I am sure "twerking" will be added to the list of words next year.  Our youth are much more prolific in the generation of language terminology than generations of the past.

that is the truth, wish the media and speech writers could add some words with real meaning to the lexicon. Today I learned the Arabic for 'Santa Claus.' So my day wasn't wasted. Tomorrow who knows, a good deed, a poem from my pen but I won't use iconic.

of course, any picture of you, any personal item of yours would be iconic. You're like the Elvis of St. Albert. Merry Christmas.

they're at it again. Just received an email from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service of the USA). Seems they would like to know about my banking, etc.  Obviously NOT the IRS. and it is not their business even it was from the IRS.

Some people have been experiencing great difficulty trying to register for the forum. The IT folks who supply the forum were finally able to replicate the issue today and are at work trying to repair the service. Sorry about that folks, but it takes time to get in contact and for them to find the issue. Things should be up and running normally by sometime tomorrow.

It is too bad this issue came up just as we begin the move here and for that i apologize. Believe it or not, I am trying very hard to make this a pleasant experience and put some checks in place to avoid the many complaints of late about the former live chat.

Nice job on this forum Don. The template is easy to use and I like the variety icon smiles built in.[comp][thumb][comp][biggrin]

I notice fishing columnist Paul Chaisson has posted an event in the calendar section. Please feel free to post your event there as well. The Calendar is located at the top of the Forum as shown here:

Hi Don,

Your piece about going to THE game in SK and memories of growing up when there were no traffic lights in town just two 4-way stops. I'd be interested to see how many of your readers remember St. Albert being that way

My favourite was the 4-way stop at the Bruin corner, suspended by wires diagonally across the intersection. It was quite fancy because it had a red flashing light on the sign.

Signed,

Curious

SINC SAYS: How about it folks, anyone else recall this in St. Albert?

Yes!  I also remember skidoo-ing along the river and sledding down the river banks.  That was when there was only a 2 lane gravel road into $A.

Nearby, there was a farm (Jensen's, I believe), where they offered hay rides.  Back then, there was also the drive-in.

So, I hear DARP is a go? To paraphrase Jimmy Kimmel: "Are they all on crack?"
