Hows about a new thread called "Just Wondering"  Post what ever you are wondering about.  Maybe some one can provide an answer.

Many years ago there was a "1 Mile  Green Belt" that was established around St. Albert so that Edmonton wouldn't grow out to and swallow St. Albert like it has Jasper Place, Beverly and several other communities. That meant there would be no industrial, residential or other encroachment on St. Albert. That 1 mile green belt would always stay agricultural land.  As Edmonton is now much closer than 1 mile,  See >> https://data.edmonton.ca/Administrative/City-of-Edmonton-Corporate-Boundary/m45c-6may/data you'll see that Edmonton City boundary is now right up to St. Albert. Backs right upto Heritage Lakes, Grandin, Akinsdale, Campbell Industrial Park, right up to Poundmaker Road.

I'm wondering... What happened to that one mile Green Belt?

Loved watching the horses at Jensen's going into the city in the early mornings.

The only green belt left are the cemeteries. That speaks for itself.

"Just Wondering"   How many people will choose to use a self checkout at a store this week and then complain about;

A)     How people no longer seem to have any rudimentary social skills.

B)     The high unemployment rate.

C)     The absence of any sense of community in recent years.

Just wondering what ever happened to the friendly wave to acknowledge some one letting you in a lane, stopping for you at a crosswalk

Just wondering what happened to folks ability to park within the lines in a parking lot?

Yesterday a vehicle was parked in front of a local business straddling the yellow divider line and taking up two full parking spots.

And no, it was not a brand new expensive vehicle the owner did not want to be door dinged.

It was a rather rusty older white van with a painting company's name emblazoned on the side.

As an addendum to Head Honcho's wondering I offer the following: Being a lover of all things automotive, I take great pride in my personal vehicles be they old or new thus when parking I will find an area of the lot which is relatively uninhabited which normally is much farther out. I don't mind the extra walk. My frustration stems from the not infrequent occasions when upon my return I find someone has sidled up beside my vehicle making ingress unnecessarily difficult. This is done despite the fact that there is still oodles of room nearby! Go figure ....?

I'm wondering why Global TV spends all the money they do on chopper traffic reports. Just how many people have TV sets in their cars, that they watch while driving, for these traffic updates so they can avoid congested roadways?

I'm wondering why we have a useless traffic circle that annoys me daily - it doesn't appear to have any purpose as the majority of traffic goes straight through it. There was never a problem turning right or left but now traffic must merge into one lane. So now we have the three lights in front of St Albert Place and a merge into a single lane . . . sort of typical for traffic movement in St. Albert. I also go to the Grandin Clinic which had its access compromised for a year and now only has one entrance/exit. The only positive thing I can say is at least the angle parking on Perron was rescinded.

Isn't that considered "Distracted Driving"?

Oh, and what do they call it, when police specifically watch for drivers in their vehicles who watch Global TV?

Just so everyone knows, that chopper is shared by several news stations both radio and TV. It also does more than traffic updates relative to TV covering special events and ongoing news events.

Thanks for that Dennis, but I am aware of that. What I wonder is why the TV station uses it so frequently to advise drivers to avoid congested spots. I get it on radio, but on the morning news? On TV? C'mon!

Ah....wouldn't read too much into it. Considering the time of the year let's just say the good folks watching at home must phone family and friends to warn them of problems. We can debate this next year if need be but not a priority.... more as you say....just wondering.
Hoping your Christmas is great Don.

Just wondering, will Crouse bail before the ministerial inspection is completed? Is he going to get on this horse and ride it as hard as he has been riding the self promotion horse? Or will he be too busy riding another horse out of town? Will he stick around for the fire works and deny everything like he has in the past? Yes, this is getting really interesting.

Just wondering?
Travelled down Boudreau Avenue this morning and saw the graters moving snow from the boulevard back unto the street. Puzzling because both the sidewalks and roads were clear of snow. I don't know of too many people that use the boulevard for anything. Wouldn't it be a better use of this equipment to clear streets that haven't seen a plow in years, namely Erin Ridge and NorthRidge.
Where is common sense???????

Hey come on now. The City has a snow removal budget that needs to be used. It has equipment that needs to be used to justify having it. And besides, my small crescent has been plowed at least once this year where many other larger streets and crescents with much more traffic and homes haven't! I guess it's a perk to have a city utility employee living on my street.

I am just wondering..... can he get our property taxes lowered too?

I always use the self checkout machines.  I can go at my own pace.  Much more relaxing.

Stream is just fine, has not frozen once. Using iPad right now and using airplay to send to the TV, so I am using my wireless twice, once from inet in, and a second time to send to AppleTV.

Thanks Kevin, must be an issue with Telus on my end. MacBook Pro, iPad nor iPhone will run the video claiming it cannot load.

Ditto for Mac Mini connected via ethernet direct.

Another meeting missed due to tech issues for me.

I am on Shaw 150, that may also play into this. I also watched for a bit on my phones data plan with no issues.

Tried my phone on data too and it worked just fine. Only have 6 GB cell data and unlimited on house account for net so tend not to use cell unless necessary. That proved to me the issue was with Telus and not my machines.
