I sent a letter to the Gazette editor a couple of days ago which deals with this very issue. This 'fire-walling' as I call it may be what passes for direct representation elsewhere but has absolutely no place at all here in St. Albert. Whomever, be it singularly or collectively, is responsible for instituting this despicable practice should be reprimanded in a most extreme manner. To Mr. Scobel I say; you and your staff work for 'us', the people of St. Albert not the members of City Council and as for them, if you cannot take the heat then you should never have run for office in the first place. "For shame!"

This comment arrived via email from Elke Blodgett of the city.

"Well, since  the city threatened to cut off our water supply if we don't  agree to have our water meters changed, what will be next?"

I don't remember a similar outcry when Atco Gas switched to remote read meters some years ago.

unbelievable. Thanks for pointing that out to me, because I thought how great that they would post the councillors names and phone numbers not noticing that the number was the same for everyone. Wow, now how do we vent our frustrations. Maybe that's why the numbers are all the same. We can't vent.  We were always able to talk to Cam Mckay and he always returned our calls. I know If I want to talk to a Councillor I will politely ask to speak to one and ask them to return my call. Let's hope they do return the call.

Two possible guesses:
1) Save $$$ - use Voice Mail - press 1 for your favourite council member...

2) New Sheriff in town! - Educated by previous Sheriff...

Well, it appears that some things are destined to never change.

Once again, some members of our City council are intentionally turning a deaf ear to the concerns of the very people who have elected them to office. Their heavy handed actions appear to be an intentional reproach to at least some of the people who elected them to public office.

I am surprised with the reasoning put forth by these three members of council who have unilaterally decided that the efficiency of reading water meters is immeasurably more important than properly addressing the entirely valid concerns of some residents.

It's also astonishing that any public servant in our City would use the "one system is more efficient'  phrase in an actual sentence. Obviously some members of Council don't pay the household bills, choose their garbage bin plan, visit Servus Credit Union Place, own a cell phone, or partake in the hundred other multi-tier plans our fair City is famous for.

I think If Silly Council believes this issue is now over and done with, they are completely mistaken.     My guess is it's going to be more reminiscent of ... GAME ON  !

So the city

Forced us to convert to new water meters.

Forcing us to switch to e-mail for utility bills... I know some seniors who do not use email but so what says council

Council meeting in camera for things such as pay raises and other items that have zero FOIP issues.

Way to go voters, you did it again.

*and NDP leading in Ontario...   Canada is done.

Come on now, let's look on the bright side. With all of this 'forced feeding' going on St. Albert might very well become the pate foie gras capital of Canada , if not the world!!! [idea]

Pate?  Ducks?  St. Albert residents similar to ducks?

That brings up some pretty ugly pictures of animal abuse.
Or, in the case of St. Albert residents - Taxpayer Abuse!
