Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound...Crouse is leaving. He might now have risen to his level of competence, "a volunteer" leader of the near to non-existent Liberal party of Alberta. It is hard to imagine being a leader without compensation, without travel allowance, without expenses and without a travel allowance. Based upon past history...that should not be a problem for an experienced double dipper. The opportunity to make money is unlimited while in a position of "promoting" oneself while still holding down a full time job as Mayor with all of its benefits. Surely he will finally demonstrate some moticum of honour and resign as Mayor of St. Albert and Chair of the Capital Region Board. Or, is this just a hgher level of double, dare I say triple, dipping? For the sake of the citizens of Alberta, my hope is that there are other Liberal candidates...please.

I see Crouse's shenanigans in seeking the Liberal leadership as nothing more than garnering free publicity, and as much of it as he can, before he 'might' run.
He is playing the Edmonton media as fools and they continue to prove that by jumping to interview him every time he comes calling. Ditto for the Gazette. His method is nothing more than using the media to his own ends and his claim of volunteering is but a cover for his many legal and ethical problems over this past three years that he has yet to fully answer for, to the citizens of St. Albert. The worst part of it all, is the media falling for it. It is obvious they have not clued in yet.

How much advertising does the City of St. Albert do in the Gazette? I think the question is answered.

Why does controversy follow Crouse wherever he goes?

The Wednesday Gazette............
Using words like "unapologetic" and "mean spirited" to describe Cam McKay.
This paper is beyond pathetically.
Still waiting for Murray Lambert's letter.
Crouse has been involved in so much "questionable" misconduct over his term and yet I do not recall ever hearing the words "unapologetic" when he was caught double dipping, or "mean spirited" when he called another councillor a go nowhere, do nothing councillor in front of a hundred people.
It's really no wonder you hear all this talk about "fake" news nowadays!
And then to top it off, they are suggesting voters open their eyes to those councillors who waste time when it comes time for the 2017 elections?
I sure hope people to open their eyes. They will realize who wasted time and a lot of taxpayer money on things like a LRT study.
That's the thing with this rag (The Gazette). They cherry pick their stories.

The reasons the city lawyer give for backing council members to me is rather weak. It might prevent someone from running for council or voting on a motion for fear of being sued for pecuniary reasons. I would like to think then that a councilor would make sure they understood the legislation on conflict of interest, what a conflict of interest is and how it would apply to them. If a persons goal to be a councilor is solely for their own personal gain, then I don't want that person on council as he would be looking after their own interests and not the best interests of the rate payers.
So how about proposing that if said person is found by a judge to not be in a conflict of interest then the city can reimburse him. If said person is found to be in conflict then he pays his own way and also automatically be removed from office as per the MGA.
